TV & Radio Appearances

Gags were no strangers to TV and radio, clocking up appearances and recording sessions from their very early Pig’s Trotters days.

‘There was a surprising number of broadcast opportunities back then, ‘says Gerry. ‘And regional stations in particular would actively showcase local talent.’

Even better for the band, they’d get paid to appear. The BBC appears to have been more generous than Granada TV. For the band’s recording session at Strawberry Studios in 1986 the BBC fee was £240 whereas contracts for Granada TV sessions earlier in the decade show the band received in the region of £40 a shot.
