With the ‘Bernie’ classification firmly in place, Gags continued to play around the North West to enthusiastic audiences. Of all the band’s residencies, though, The Band on The Wall in Manchester City Centre was the most enduring. Gags were the mainstay of the club’s last Saturday of the month rock nights for many years.
When the Band on The Wall was forced to temporarily close in 1996 following the Manchester bomb, the band finally decided to call it a day. The IRA had unwittingly done for Gags as well as M & S.
