Pub Round

Gags played a massive array of pubs, clubs and colleges over their twenty-year existence. ‘It’s no wonder we earned a reputation for drinking,’ admits Gerry.

The band were regulars at The Cavalcade, The Midland on Burton Road, The Sale Hotel, The Lamplight in Chorlton, Mulberry’s, Rafter’s, the Band on The Wall, Cobden’s Place in Stockport and Manchester University to name but a few.

It wasn’t only Manchester – the band chalked up performances at a number of iconic pub rock venues in London, including Dingwalls, The Greyhound in Croydon, The Hope & Anchor, Music Machine in Camden, Rock Garden and The Rochester Castle.

A lot of those venues are quite gentrified these days,’ says John. ‘They certainly weren’t when we were playing them.’
