Gags had a long association with The Band of the Wall in Manchester, playing the venue regularly over three decades.
Their first gigs there, around 1978, were promoted by The New Manchester Review.
Later, the band landed the prestigious Saturday Dance Night slot alongside DJ Lorraine, always playing to packed houses.
‘We must have played there a hundred times, says Brendan. ‘We also did the New Year’s Eve gig for a number of years – maybe they couldn’t get anybody else to do it.’
The flier for June 1996 shows Gags were due to play BOTW on Saturday 22nd that month. That, of course, never happened. The IRA bomb that devasted the city centre exploded on Saturday 15th June.
